Richard and Sylvia Cruess Symposium on Scholarship in Health Sciences Education: Insights and Innovations


It is with great pleasure that the Institute of Health Sciences Education (IHSE) invites you to participate in the Richard and Sylvia Cruess Symposium on Scholarship in Health Sciences Education: Insights and Innovations. This event will be held at the McGill Faculty Club and Conference Centre on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm.

We will welcome as guests two well-known education scholars: Lara Varpio, PhD, Professor, Department of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, University of Pennsylvania; Co-Director of Research in Medical Education, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Tina Martimianakis, PhD, Professor and Director of Medical Education Scholarship; Department of Paediatrics, and Associate Director, Collaborations and Partnerships, Wilson Centre, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto.

In addition, the IHSE will showcase research and innovation in Health Sciences Education from faculty members and students in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at McGill and beyond. We are seeking abstracts in any area of health sciences education research or innovation. We encourage you to join us in discussing emerging educational trends and innovations as well as cross cutting, interdisciplinary education research, and scholarship.

Registration is free and is now open. Presenters of both posters and oral papers must also register for the Symposium.

Submit an Abstract

The categories for abstracts are ‘Education research’, ‘Education innovations’, and ‘Work in progress’. Abstract submissions can be submitted in English or in French. The deadline for abstract submissions is January 30, 2024.
