Create and Submit a Video to the Cellphilm Festival

Get your cellphones ready for McGill's 9th International Cellphilm Festival!

The IHDW and PCL, along with our partner CODE, invite you to create a cellphilm (cellphone video) and submit it to by May 24, 2021. This year’s festival centers on the theme of Transformation. This is your opportunity to share your original story of transformation with others!

Harness your creativity and transform your cellphone into a critical lens to explore what transformation means to you, your community, or the world and don't forget to join us in celebration with our awardees at the virtual festival on June 10, 2021!

Send your cellphilm to us by 24 May 2021 and be considered for one of our five prize categories, generously supported by CODE & Participatory Cultures Lab:

  • Best Group Award (3 or more participants) $500 CAD
  • Best Production Award (filmmaking skills) $500 CAD
  • Most Creative Content Award (content focused) $500 CAD
  • Young Filmmaker Award (14 and under) $500 CAD
  • People's Choice Award $500 CAD

We welcome submissions from anywhere in the world, any genre and produced by any individual, group, child, adult, amateur or professional alike! Submissions must be between 30-120 seconds in length and made using a cellphone or similar devices. Post-production software may be used to edit the recordings, though we also encourage 'one-shot' and 'no-editing' entries.
