McGill Integrative Health Challenge Think Tank: Fighting Childhood Obesity

Thu, 2006-10-26 (All day) - Fri, 2006-10-27 (All day)

Co-chair: Dr. Laurette Dubé, professor of consumer and lifestyle psychology and marketing, Desautels Faculty of Management, and a passionate proponent of the view that fighting obesity and all its collateral health issues starts small, with children, but requires major mobilization. The think tank's lineup of international experts and speakers includes a keynote address by economist and New York Times columnist Paul Krugman and a closing call to action led by Montreal mayor Gérald Tremblay. Report from Washington - Seymour Hersh

Thu, 2006-10-26 18:00
Mount Royal Centre, 2200 Mansfield : Mount Royal Centre, 2200 Mansfield

The Beaverbrook Fund for Media@McGill presents Seymour Hersh, New Yorker journalist and Pulitzer Prize winner. Lecture 6 pm, reception 7:30 pm. RSVP by October 20. From My Lai to Abu Ghraib, investigative reporter Seymour Hersh has uncovered some of the most important news stories of our times. His recent work is a revealing and unflinching look at the Bush administration's "war on terror." Journalism at its best can challenge abuses of power and hold the privileged to account in the court of public opinion. There is no finer example of this than the work of Seymour Hersh.
