McGill on the Move: Lecture with Victoria Kaspi

Thu, 2007-04-19 19:00
Auditorium, National Research Council of Canada, 100 Sussex Dr., Ottawa : Auditorium, National Research Council of Canada, 100 Sussex Dr., Ottawa

A glance at the night sky from a dark location on Earth suggests a peaceful and seemingly predictable panorama of stars and galaxies. In reality, the universe is anything but peaceful. As X-ray and gamma-ray telescopes show, violent and unpredictable explosions abound. Dr. Victoria Kaspi will present the realities of the high-energy universe, and the astrophysical objects that make it so exciting.
