Pejmun Haghighi

Department:  Physiology

Appointments:  Associate Professor; CRC Tier II

The Haghighi lab is focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms that underlie synaptic growth, function and plasticity. The focus is on identifying and characterizing genes and mechanisms that participate in the regulation of synaptic structure and function using the fly larval neuromuscular junction (NMJ) as a model system. The overall goal of my research is to understand the balance in synaptic activity and circuit function that is thought to be disrupted in many age-dependent neurodegenerative diseases.
