May 2026 Cannabis and Cannabinoids Research Webinar
In May 2026, the MRCC joined forces with the Yale Center for the Science of Cannabis and Cannabinoids (YC-SCAN²) for the monthly Cannabis and Cannabinoids Research Webinar. Dr. Rachel Rabin (MRCC, McGill University) presented her talk, “Moderators and Mechanisms of Cannabis Withdrawal,” which discussed recent findings on the increased severity and duration of withdrawal symptoms during abstinence among individuals who co-use cannabis and tobacco, as well as sex differences in withdrawal trajectories. Dr. Renato Polimanti (Yale School of Medicine, YC-SCAN²) presented “Genetic Pleiotropy Differentially Linking Brain Variation to Cannabis Use and Cannabis Use Disorder,” which examined distinct patterns in genomic and brain imaging data associated with cannabis use and cannabis use disorder. This seminar was part of the MRCC’s initiative to strengthen scientific communication with the research community and public, and provide high-quality training opportunities for the next generation of researchers in cannabis and cannabinoid science.

MRCC Researcher Joins the Canadian Cannabis and Brain Health Consortium
Dr. Rachel Rabin has recently joined Canada’s national Cannabis and Brain Health Consortium (CCBHC), a $24 million initiative advancing research on the relationship between cannabis use and brain health throughout the lifespan. Her project, Youth Cannabis Outcomes and Neurodevelopmental and Clinical Trajectories (Y-CONECT), will help inform public health policy and clinical care across the country.
