Time commitment

The time commitment is approximately 3-4 hours per week (including travel time to and from the school) for a duration of 10 weeks over one semester. Volunteering in the Fall semester runs from the last week of September to the first week of December; volunteering in the Winter semester runs from the third week of January to the third week of March.

The exact schedule of sessions will be communicated to mentors and mentees early in the Fall.


Mentor orientation and onboarding

All volunteers must attend the mandatory Homework Zone orientation and first school visit. For the Fall semester these usually take place in late September. 

McGill University is on land that long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst
Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg nations. We acknowledge
and thank the diverse Indigenous people whose footsteps have marked this territory on which
peoples of the world now gather.
