Dear potential participant,
We, the researchers, are conducting a study about the costs incurred by adolescents and young adults (AYA) with cancer. Many of your costs often go unnoticed since it is hard to quantify the cost of pausing your studies or career path. In addition, researchers devote significantly less research on this segment of the population compared to children or adults. With your help, we can begin to change that.
The study is conducted all online, through online surveys and virtual focus groups. There are 3 separate tasks:
- Fill out the initial demographic survey (10-15mins). These are general questions about you, your family, employment/education, etc.
- Fill out the AHCR (Ambulatory and Home Care Record) survey once per day, for a week. This questionnaire is for collecting your daily costs.
- Lastly, we will create focus groups on Facebook where you and others who have participated in the study can discuss these costs or other costs associated with your cancer care
Requirements for the study:
- Be between the ages of 15 and 29
- Have been diagnosed with cancer
- Have access to a computer and Internet
