Previous Degrees:PhD Anthropology (Brown University); MA Anthropology (Brown University); MSc Global Health and Population (Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health); BA Economics and International Studies (Colby College).
Research Interests:My work is an attempt to accompany and write about people who are looking after severely ill children. My current book project, Imagine a Room: Paediatrics and Its Publics in Contemporary North India, centres around families and medical residents in a government hospital. In my next project, I will examine the role Sufi shrines play in the management of difficult childhood afflictions. My research is grounded in the city of Meerut, in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh (UP). Rates of morbidity and mortality for children in UP are among the highest in the world.

Email: katherine.mcnally [at] mcgill.ca
Program: L4E Postdoctoral Fellow
Previous Degrees: PhD Anthropology (Yale University); MPhil Anthropology (Yale University); BA Anthropology (Bates College).
Research Interests: Moving between academic writing and ethnographic art, I attend to the ways communities in the rural north experience entrapment in, and abandonment by, extractive industries. My current book project, Newfoundland Ghost Nets, traces the social origins and effects of lost industrial fishing nets on the island of Newfoundland, drawing on a decade of conversations with fishing families about their shifting relationships with the ocean, technology, social structures, and one another.
