Repenser Saint-Viateur = Rethinking Saint-Viateur

St-Viateur

St-Viateur is a well-loved, vibrant, healthy place in Montréal. Can it be made better? How? Are there threats or issues that should be acknowledged and addressed?

Graduate students in Urban Design and Urban Planning at McGill are now exploring ways to make St-Viateur more user-friendly for pedestrians and cyclists while also educating and empowering local users about how they can work with City agencies and non-governmental organisations to keep what is good and make it better.

We are interested first and foremost in finding out about what makes St-Viateur well-loved, vibrant, and healthy--both to ensure that measures are taken to keep it so and to develop ways to make it even better. Where does one begin with this sort of work? The best starting point for any place-based project is the USER: residents, merchants, workers, and people who come to the place to spend time. Two steps have been taken this far in the process: an initial round of our online place questionnaire and a first public workshop.
