Essay competition, apply by May 21: The Brain@McGill Prize for neuroscience undergraduate research

The Brain@McGill has established this award to recognize the importance of the next generation of promising young neuroscientists in advancing our understanding of the brain.  The winner of the Brain@McGill Prize for Neuroscience is awarded $500 and publication in B@M Online and newsletter.  The essay and those of the three semi-finalists will also be published in B@M Online.

Annual Journey’s End—Journey’s Start is rite of passage for B.Ed. graduates

The annual professional development event Journey’s End—Journey’s Start took place Thursday, April 2nd with events in the Education building and across the campus. Focused on the themes of mindfulness and sustaining delight in teaching, the 2015 edition included five workshops, a reception, and a presentation by the keynote speaker, mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) teacher Charity Bryant.

Faculty of Education at McGill's BRAVO Gala

McGill’s annual Bravo gala is a time to celebrate the best of the best in McGill’s research community by recognizing those researchers who have been awarded major provincial, national and international prizes.

This year, Professor Russell Hepple, Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education, was among those recognized. The Montreal General Hospital Foundation awarded him the 2014 Nesbitt McMaster Award for Excellence in Medicine and Surgery.

Acting on climate change: Solutions from scholars

Professor Catherine Potvin, a Canada Research Chair in Climate Change Mitigation and Tropical Forests, has convened colleagues from 30 Canadian universities to join her in a collective initiative called Sustainable Canada Dialogues. The resulting group, that mobilizes over 60 researchers from every province, has built a consensus around a plan of sustainability solutions to help Canada successfully achieve transition to a low-carbon society. Potvin spoke with the McGill Reporter about what government officials and ordinary citizens can do to mitigate climate change.

Faculty of Education relaunches Research Exchange Forum March 11

The Faculty of Education has relaunched the Research Exchange Forum events to promote faculty-wide research sharing. These regular events, open to all, are intended to support the transdisciplinary research culture within the Faculty, and to provide an informal hub where faculty and graduate students’ ongoing research can be discussed.
