Tutorial Service

The fall 2013 semester tutorial service is now open.  Currently, the schedule is available through to October 4th. We are in the process of finalizing the schedule for the rest of the semester and will update the appointment booking schedule shortly.

We offer writing support in all subjects, and we work with both native and non-native English speakers. Tutors will show you how to organize your ideas, express yourself clearly, make convincing arguments, and reach the right audience. We will work with you at any stage of the writing process, from outlining to revision. Tutors will also teach you writing skills to help you identify common grammatical and structural errors.

Please note that the tutorial service is not a drop-off proofreading and editing service.  Accordingly, tutors will not “correct” your draft assignments. Rather, tutors will model structurally and grammatically coherent sentences and paragraphs with a view to empowering you to learn how to write clear, concise, and engaging prose.

Consult the information below about how to book an appointment, cancel an appointment, prepare for your appointment, and for tutorial service policies and procedures. We look forward to working with you!

Sign-up process

You will need to register—one time only—for the service with your McGill e-mail address and a password of your choosing: http://mwcschedule.mcgill.ca/. Register in a blank slot; pale blue indicates that a slot is already taken. If the timeslots you want are booked, check regularly on-line for cancellations.

Cancellation policy

Appointments must be cancelled online at least 24 hours in advance because last minute cancellations prevent other students from using the service. If you do not cancel an appointment online at least 24 hours in advance, you will not be able to use the tutorial service until the following semester. If you fail to attend your appointment more than once, you will not be able to use the tutorial service until the following semester.

Inquiries: E-mail the Administrative Assistant at mwc.mcgill.ca.
