VPN maintenance downtime - Tuesday morning, November 11, 7am

A maintenance operation will be performed on the VPN server for securevpn.mcgill.ca on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, from 7:00 to 7:15 am.  During this period, there will be a 5-minute downtime for VPN access. Any VPN connections in process at that time will be disconnected.

uApply (Graduate Admissions System) maintenance - November 7

The uApply system will undergo a scheduled maintenance operation Friday, November 7, from 2:30pm to 5pm. The system will be unavailable during this period. 

uApply is the system used by applicants to McGill graduate programs and by admissions staff to process those applications.

If you have not already made the switch to McGill’s new, more secure Virtual Private Network (VPN), time is running out. The old VPN, inside.mcgill.ca, will be deactivated on November 12. To avoid losing access to internal McGill systems and resources when off campus, set up a new VPN connection today.

Phishing Scam from "RBC Express"; Subject: Important Notice for all RBC Express Online Users

A phishing attempt is circulating purporting to come from RBC Express (Royal Bank of Canada), with the Subject: "Important Notice for all RBC Express Online Users". It seems to be targeted to McGill staff and asks recipients to sign in using their RBC login credentials. 

Please delete this email immediately! It is a phishing scam.

If you have received the message and attempted to log in, please contact Peter Guertin, in McGill Financial Services, ASAP so that he can freeze the account and take the appropriate action.

myMcGill portal downtime this Saturday, October 25, from 10pm to midnight

Please note that the myMcGill portal will be unavailable for 2 hours on Saturday, October 25, from 10 pm to midnight, for maintenance work.  This period coincides with the Minerva/Banner regularly scheduled monthly downtime.

During this period you will still be able to access major IT services, such as email and myCourses, using the links on When myMcGill is unavailable page.

Warning: CryptoLocker Virus is back again - don't open attachments

There is currently a virus infecting computers via email attachments.  In the latest fraud reported at McGill, the subject of the email is You have received a voice mail, and the attachment contains the virus.

If you receive any emails containing .ZIP file attachments, DO NOT open them.
