All departmental NetWare servers should be removed from operation. The infrastructure that supports all other NetWare servers and services (IPX, SLP, Zen, NDS, etc.) will start to be dismantled on Thursday, May 4, beginning with the Banner forms server. Everything will be phased out by the end of May. Please send notification to ds [at] lists [dot] mcgill [dot] ca if you have questions.
New students should note that they will not be able to set up and use their McGill email account until the next business day after they register.
Due to a server failure, the McGill Library e-Calendar is currently unavailable. A message will be posted here when the service returns to normal.
North American Daylight Saving Time is being extended, starting three weeks earlier and ending one week later. This change will have an effect on computers, computer applications and mobile devices that rely on date and time calculations, including calendaring and email.
Due to technical problems on a central file server (FS1 cluster), users may have experienced problems accessing very large files (e.g., greater than 50 MB) the morning of January 31, from 08h15 to 09h45. In addition, some departmental folders were not accessible that morning from 07h15 to 07h45. The source of the problem has been identified and resolved, and central file services have since been functioning normally.
Please note that the Anti-Spam Quarantine Web site (http://yourspam.mcgill.ca) will be unavailable on Wednesday, May 31, from 7:30 am to 8:00 am, due to maintenance. Email delivery is not affected and will continue to function.
Please note that wireless access and the Work Order System (WOS) will be unavailable on Friday, September 16, 2005 from 07:00 am to 07:30 am, due to a system upgrade. Wireless sessions already in progress should not be affected.
It has been reported that the Banner Client data extract function does not work when users install Service Pack 2 for Windows XP. Because no patch or other workaround has been supplied yet, automatic deployment of the service pack has been blocked on all machines of ICS customers. Banner users should not install the service manually.
Minerva, Banner and Imaging will be unavailable this weekend, from 5 pm, Friday, Nov. 16, until 6 am, Monday, Nov. 19. See "Details" for availability of the Banner Data Warehouse.
Please be aware that due to the Daylight Saving Time change, if you used your BlackBerry device to book a meeting or set up an appointment between Sunday, March 11, at 3:00 a.m. and Monday, March 12, at 11:00 a.m., these items will appear one hour later on Outlook.
