Three Bantings for Law

On September 15, 2011, the Canadian government announced the 70 first recipients of the Banting Fellowships. Three were awarded inside the Faculty of Law, to Jean-Baptiste Jeangène-Vilmer (France), Armel Brice Adanhounme (Benin) and Mark Lewis Shepheard (Australia).

Professor Desmond Manderson made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada

The Royal Society of Canada announced 78 new Fellows this week, including nine McGill researchers and scholars from the faculties of Medicine, Law and Arts. Among them is Professor Desmond Manderson, who holds the Canada Research Chair in Law and Discourse. Find out more in the McGill Reporter.

François Crépeau elected United Nations Special Rapporteur

On Friday, June 17, 2011, the United Nations Human Rights Council elected Professor François Crépeau, holder of the Oppenheimer Chair in Public International Law, to the position of United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Migrants, for a three year mandate, renewable once.

Lionel Smith elected a Visiting Fellow at Oxford's All Souls

Professor Lionel Smith, Director of the QRCPCL, has been elected a Visiting Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford. Professor Smith has been a professor at McGill since 2000, was awarded a James McGill Chair in 2004, and became the Director of the QRCPCL in 2007.
