XMedius is a central voice over IP service that allows faculty and staff members to send faxes, both within and outside McGill, with a choice of convenient methods. This service was introduced in 2015, but the goal of converting existing analog fax lines to XMedius was postponed till now.
There is a phishing email circulating from the ICT Service Desk asking users to click on a link to update their webmail.mcgill.ca Web Appls 2016.
There is a fraudulent email circulating with the subject: "Campus Police Bomb Alert for all Mcgill.Ca". It contains links to a malicious site that looks identical to the Outlook Web App login page. The URL in the link has been blocked and is now inaccessible from within the McGill network; however recipients off campus must beware.
July 21, 2016, 1:34 pm: McGill websites now appear to be functioning normally, but we will continue to monitor them for any issues.
When trying to access McGill websites, you may find that pages load slowly, don't load completely, or get a "mcgill.ca is over capacity" error message.

Microsoft has just released a Forms feature, available from the Office 365 portal at https://portal.office.com. It is currently being deployed across all Office 365 accounts, so you may have to wait a day or so to see the Forms icon from the waffle menu.
There is a phishing email circulating with content relating to the migration of email accounts into "Outlook Web App 2016". It contains the words "ICT Technical Support" and the message requests that the recipient click on a link and log in to migrate.
McGill's LISTSERV service will be upgraded on Friday, July 15, 2016 at approximately 9:30 am. There will be a 1-hour interruption in service, during which time communications to McGill LISTSERV lists will not be delivered. If any mail is sent to a Listserv during the upgrade it will be queued and delivered once the new server is up and running.
List managers and administrators will notice a new web interface and several new features, listed below. These will be documented in the IT Knowledge Base over the coming days.
IT Services is in the process of moving all McGill faculty and staff mailboxes and resource accounts from McGill’s central email server to Exchange Online. We're now about half-way through the university and expect to be completed by the end of August.

Please note that there will be an update to McGill's wireless certificate on Thursday morning, June 16 at 5:00 am. After the update, the first time you connect to the wireless network on campus (wpa.mcgill.ca) and in residences (wpa.rez.mcgill.ca) you will be prompted to accept the new certificate on Windows, Mac and iOS (Android devices will not be prompted). Simply click Connect to continue. The screenshot shown here is an example from Windows 7; other system prompts may differ.
