Cross-country quartet merits all-conference honours
MONTREAL - Four members of the McGill cross-country running team - two men and two women - have earned all-conference status, based upon their Top 7 finishes at the Quebec university championship meet on the Plaines of Abraham in Quebec City, Saturday.
Junior Melanie Myrand of Pointe Claire, Que., and freshman Sarah McCuaig of Waterloo, Ont., both qualified from the Martlets, while veterans Graydon Snider of Ottawa and Daniel Kramer of Salem, Mass., earned all-star honours for the Redmen.
Myrand, an integrated nursing major, finished fifth of 53 entries at the competition, completing the five-kilometre course in 18 minutes, 19 seconds.
McCuaig placed sixth at the meet, crossing the finish line in 18:47. The 19-year-old a science major was also voted conference rookie of the year.
Snider, a 27-year-old master's student in chemistry, posted a bronze-medal finish in the 10k race, clocking in at 31:54.
Kramer, a 21-year-old neuroscience sophomore, was seventh of 49 runners and was timed at 32:30.
