Canada, UK up the ante on Boeing vs Bombardier

Published: 13 September 2017

A CTV News piece about the latest developments in Boeing’s complaint against Bombardier states that London is now pressuring the White House because wings for the C Series are made in Northern Ireland, and Ottawa is hinting that its deal to buy $6.3 billion worth of Boeing’s Super Hornet fighters may be up in the air.

Boeing charges that Bombardier gets unfair subsidies from Ottawa and Quebec, but Desautels Professor Karl Moore counters that “Boeing has got billions of dollars of government support from the US, particularly through military contracts, over many years.”

According to Canada’s ambassador to the US, Washington recently walked away from talks.
