Published: 9 May 2024

In 2024, elections will be held in over fifty countries, with more than 2 billion voters eligible to head to the polls. Tools like ChatGPT allow for the rapid creation of disinformation, and deep fake videos can make it difficult to know what is actually real. At the 30th edition of Conference of Montreal, taking place between June 10-12, McGill Desautels’ Faculty Lecturer Fatih Nayebi will explore the extent to which generative AI threatens our ability to trust information online, how lessons learned from traditional media could help combat disinformation in this new information ecosystem, and whether AI could be part of the solution.
