Steven Bielby of Pte. Claire, Que., and Marc-Andre Benoit, a freshman from Montreal, each garnered four gold medals as McGill swept both the men's and women's divisions of the second Quebec Cup swim meet of the season at the University's Memorial Pool, Saturday.
McGill's Steven Bielby of Pte. Claire, Que., was named male athlete of the meet at the Universite de Montreal's CEPSUM pool, Friday. He won three gold medals (400 indiv. medley, 100 butterfly and 4x100 freestyle relay) and one silver (4x100 medley relay).
Steven Bielby, a swimmer from McGill University, and Redmen head coach Peter Carpenter, are among 42 student-athletes and a 10-member support staff selected to represent Canada in swimming at the 26th Summer Universiade from August 12-23, 2011, in Shenzhen, China.
