Redmen, Martlets finish third at own Quebec Cup swim meet

Sophomore Myriam Donato, a butterfly and individual medley specialist from Pointe Claire, Que., led all McGill swimmers with three podium finishes, including a silver and two bronze medals at the fourth Quebec Cup university meet of the season, held at McGill's Memorial pool, Saturday.

McGill to host major swim meet, Saturday

McGill will host the fourth Quebec Cup swim meet on Saturday afternoon at Memorial pool in the Currie Gym. Admission is free of charge and it is the team's only major meet at home as the season winds down for the league championships.

Four McGill teams find themselves in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport Top 10 national rankings this week. The Martlets and Redmen hockey teams are ranked No. 1 and 2, respectively, while the men's swim team has remained ninth and the women's volleyball squad crept in for the first time this season, with a debut at No.10.

McGill third at Laval meet, two more swimmers qualify for CIS championships

Rayven Snodgrass of Calgary and Pierre-Alexandre Renaud of Laval, Que., both freshmen on the McGill swim team, have met the rigid qualifying standard for the CIS championships as McGill finished third in both the men's and women's divisions at the third Quebec Cup swim meet, Saturday. They are among 21 McGill swimmers who have now qualified to compete at the Nationals in Calgary, Feb. 24-26.
