Threads 4 Thought, Boxercraft, Arcade Fire and OSP Group are just a few of the customers placing production with Industrial Revolution II (IRII), and if you asked them why they chose the Port-au-Prince, Haiti-based apparel factory, they'd surely point to its high quality knit tops and bottoms, competitive pricing and proximity to North American markets, but there's another reason these companies are drawn to IRII: because of its social mission.

Student leaders, graduates who have had a significant impact on alumni life and the community, and volunteers with outstanding records of service to McGill were honoured at a banquet held at the Omni Mont-Royal Hotel in Montreal.

CEO Relearns, Rebuilds After Brain Injury

On Aug. 17, 2011, everything changed for Jonathan Goodman (MBA'94).

The aggressive, hard-driving executive - at the time the CEO of hugely successful drug distributor Paladin Labs Inc. - had just sealed one of Paladin's biggest acquisitions. Taking a celebratory bicycle ride with fellow employees in the hills north of Montreal, he fell off his bike and hit his head. Despite wearing a helmet, the result was a serious brain injury.

Nothing so became Herb Gray (BCom'52) than the manner in which he left the House of Commons, where he was the third-longest serving parliamentarian in our history.

... Gray was proud to be Canada’s first Jewish cabinet minister. He grew up in a Canada that was not always kind to people of his ilk, but he succeeded nonetheless, studying commerce at McGill and law at Osgoode Hall.

McGill Alumni Association Awards

Eight Desautels students and alumni have been selected to receive the McGill Alumni Association (MAA) Awards. They will be honoured at the MAA's Annual Honours & Awards Dinner.

Award of Merit: Lili de Grandpré, MBA’81

Lili has a long record of service as a volunteer for the MAA and the Faculty of Management, and she most recently served as Vice-Chair of the McGill Board of Governors. In addition to her McGill involvement she has sat on the boards of Centraide, the OSM, Y des Femmes, and the Montreal Circus School.
