Accessing McGill University Archives
- Submit requests by refdesk.archives [at] mcgill.ca (subject: Request%20to%20consult%20McGill%20Archives) (email). Researchers should submit detailed requests and background information.
- Request material you wish to consult in advance and schedule an appointment.
- Requests are answered within 30 business days. Users will be informed if additional delays are necessary.
- Most archival holdings are available. However, some documents may have restrictions on access.
- Archival documents must be consulted on site in the Reading Room.
- To access archival materials during the summer, please contact us before July 1. Requests submitted in July or August will be reviewed case by case, based on departmental capacity and summer priorities. Please note: Emailed research requests during this period will not be queued. If needed, researchers may reach out again in September.
