Myrlie Marcelin, Local Wellness Advisor (LWA)

Meet Myrlie Marcelin (she/her), Local Wellness Advisor (LWA) to support students who identify as Indigenous, Black, and People of Colour

  • Myrlie is a clinical social worker, couple and family therapist, and psychotherapistMyrlie hopes her career will allow her to uplift BI&POC & 2S&LGBTQ+ communities by advocating for people whose voices have traditionally been ignored and overlooked, and also by showing clients that Black mental health professionals exist and are working to reduce harm.
  • Working with a systemic and anti-oppressive lens, she has supported clients with depression, anxiety, interpersonal problems, relationship difficulties, and emotional distress. 
  • As a BI&POC wellness advisor, Myrlie will work towards empowering, supporting, and critically exploring students' mental health concerns within a therapeutic context. 
  • In her spare time, Myrlie enjoys singing/songwriting.                                                                                                                                         

Building a Healthier McGill for Myrlie means, "reducing oppression and structural barriers to mental health and ensuring that inclusion, equality, diversity, and anti-racism are prioritized within educational spaces.”
