Services for Students

A supportive environment

At McGill, we know that it takes more than award-winning professors to help world-class scholars reach their true potential.

It takes solid academic advice when you’re not sure if you’re on the right track. It takes health services that keep you well so you can stay focussed. It takes a supportive community of people who are all working towards one goal: your success.

With this in mind, we offer a huge range of resources and support services to help you make the most of your time at McGill. We’re constantly working with student representatives to ensure that what we offer is in tune with what you need.

Some of our many services include:

Campus Life & Engagement (CL&E): A go-to hub to connect you to resources and opportunities across campus. From the moment you accept your offer of admission, CL&E staff are here to help you navigate your way through university life.

International Student Services (ISS): Are you an International student or a Canadian who’s been living abroad? ISS offers a host of services and resources that can help ease your transition.

Career Planning Service (CaPS): Attend a job fair, refine your interviewing skills, or get advice from one of our Career Advisors on how to land that perfect internship, summer job or career after graduation.

Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD): The OSD provides support and assistance to students who feel their academic success and university life are being hindered by a variety of situations, including learning disabilities, medical diagnoses, mental health issues, and more. Their services help reduce the impact of such situations, and allow those dealing with them to reach their full potential.

Tutorial Service: Get help tackling a particular subject, preparing for exams, or even proofreading your paper.

Scholarships & Student Aid

McGill is committed to supporting its students in every way possible—that’s why we’ve increased our student aid budget by over $22M since 2006. It’s also why Maclean’s magazine ranks McGill #1 among Canadian universities for the percentage of total operating budget devoted to scholarships and bursaries.

New first-year students can benefit from merit-based entrance scholarships and need-based entrance financial aid, along with several other funding programs. All entrance bursary recipients can participate in the Work Study Program to earn money—and get great experience—by working on campus.
