The Desautels Faculty of Management offers Minors for non-management students that allow you to develop a variety of managerial skills that will serve you throughout your chosen careers.
In this Minor, you will learn the basics of finance to help you make informed investment and corporate financing decisions. Integrating strong theoretical knowledge with a strong focus on the real world, a Finance Minor will give you a solid understanding of finance theory, financial institutions, investment analysis, risk management, and applied techniques.

Employment for finance graduates is most often found in investment and commercial banking, manufacturing and service firms, non-profit organizations and governments, and non-financial firms.

Student experience
As a Finance student, you will be exposed to practical aspects of finance management. In the Applied Investments course, students manage real money totalling $4.5 million. In the course on Investment Management, students have to find a real client and propose an asset allocation that suits the client’s need. Students in the Principles and Strategies of Securities Trading course learn finance by trading in real time against one another. In the course on mergers and acquisitions, students have to work on tailor-made case that involves a real merger/acquisition.
