TLS supports Departments and Faculties interested in developing initiatives to enhance teaching and learning in their disciplines. These types of comprehensive interventions have the potential for a wide impact as they encourage the involvement of all stakeholders.

Examples of recent initiatives
Faculty of Engineering (January 2013 - Present)
The Teaching Enhancement Initiative (TEI) has opened debate on, and sparked innovation for, current teaching practices in the Faculty of Engineering at McGill. To date, 50 professors and more than 60 teaching assistants from all departments have participated in various conferences, workshops, and conducted research related to teaching and learning in the Faculty.
Pharmacology and Therapeutics (January 2015 - Present)
TLS facilitated a workshop on engaging students in large classes through writing and is currently following up with individual instructors on the development of formal and informal written assignments.
Faculty of Law: The Law Teaching Network (September 2010 - Present)
TLS and the Faculty of Law are partners in a multi-year program dedicated to enhancing teaching in the Faculty. Learn more.
Department of Food Science (July 2014 - Present)
TLS supports the Department of Food Science in the process required to obtain its accreditation. This involves: designing an accreditation action plan; developing program outcomes and collecting student data on program outcomes.
Department of Microbiology and Immunology (2010 - Present)
TLS and the Microbiology and Immunology department have worked together in several teaching initiatives including: two all-day teaching retreats (2010 and 2013), curriculum redesign and support for individual instructors.
School of Continuing Studies (2010 - 2013)
TLS works collaboratively with the School in designing discipline-specific workshops and providing teaching orientation for new instructors:
- Introduction to Course Design and Teaching Workshop for new instructors (November 2011, 2010)
- English and French Language Program (EFLP): Active and Collaborative Learning for Second Language Teaching Workshop (October 2010)
- Diploma in Public Relations: Active and Collaborative Learning workshop (February 2010)
Libraries (2011 - 2013)
TLS and the Libraries created the 2-day workshop “Designing and Delivering Effective Information Skills Sessions”. This is discipline-specific workshop to address the specific teaching needs of liaison librarians.
