TA Training no-show policy

There are no fees associated with participating in TA Training sessions. However, registering for an event is a commitment to attend. If you can no longer attend, make sure to cancel your registration within 24 hours of the scheduled training. Otherwise, a $25 no-show fee will be charged to your McGill student account.

To cancel, please fill in the Cancellation Form or email us at learntoteach [at] mcgill.ca.

What constitutes a no-show?

Students who registered for an event and are absent without notice received 24 hours before the event are subject to a no-show fee (see below for the cancellation process).

How much is the no-show fee, and how will it be charged?

The fee is $25 per session missed and will be applied to the student's McGill account within six weeks of the session that was not attended.

How do I cancel my registration and avoid the no-show fee?

If you cannot attend an event for which you have registered, you must cancel your registration at least 24 hours before the session.

To cancel, please fill in the Cancellation Form.

Exceptions to this process will be made only for students in emergency situations (e.g., serious illness, family crisis, etc.), and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. For emergency cancellation within 24 hours of the event, please email us directly atlearntoteach [at] mcgill.ca ( ).

I wish to appeal a no-show fee. How do I proceed?

You will receive an email indicating that you are going to be charged a no-show fee within a week of the event. If you disagree with the fee, you can appeal within one week of receipt of the email by contacting us at learntoteach [at] mcgill.ca. We will do our best to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

Events cancelled by the organizer

In the case of unforeseen circumstances, TA Training events may be cancelled. Furthermore, a session may be cancelled if the number of registrants does not meet the threshold set by the facilitator. If an event is cancelled, registrants will receive notice of the cancellation via the email account the student entered during the registration process. Students will not be charged no-show fees if the session is cancelled.
