McGill to offer a fully online Bachelor degree in 2021

Bachelor of Nursing (Integrated) (BNI) Online

The BNI program online creates a new opportunity for graduates of the 180.A0 DEC to complete a 65-credit Bachelor’s degree. There are currently no other online Bachelor of Nursing programs for licensed registered nurses in Quebec. The program will be taught in English with most course materials also available in French. Applications are open, and the first online cohort will begin in Fall 2021.

The BNI was developed by McGill’s Ingram School of Nursing in 2004 in consultation with the Anglophone CEGEPs Consortium partners. The benefits of a bachelor degree in nursing (vs. a college/CEGEP/associate degree) for both society and individual nurses are well documented. Despite the fact that both bachelor- and DEC- prepared nurses have the same scope of practice as defined by the OIIQ, a bachelor degree prepares nurses to have a broader scope beyond technical skill.

McGill University is on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg nations. We acknowledge and thank the diverse Indigenous people whose footsteps have marked this territory on which peoples of the world now gather.
