DESCRIPTION:Join the Trottier Institute for Sustainability in Engineering a
nd Design (TISED) for this lecture by Professor Eric Masanet (Northwestern
University).\nFree\, open to the public (no registration required).\nTalk
abstract\nThe development and adoption of energy- and resource-efficient
technologies is critical for improving the sustainability of society while
ensuring continued economic progress.  Rigorous\, prospective assessment
of the life-cycle environmental and economic implications of such technolo
gies can inform decisions on RD&D investments\, policy incentives\, techno
logy standards\, and initial target markets\, all of which can help accele
rate clean technology deployment. This presentation by Dr. Eric Masanet\,
will discuss novel systems analysis approaches being developed by the Ener
gy and Resource Systems Analysis Laboratory (ERSAL)\, which integrate phys
ical\, economic\, and life-cycle environmental systems models and data int
o analysis frameworks that enable more robust engineering and policy decis
ions.  Examples will be provided of how these analysis approaches have enh
anced decisions related to the development of adoption of additive manufac
turing processes and next-generation carbon capture materials. Full talk t
itle: “Accelerating the development and deployment of clean technologies t
hrough prospective life-cycle systems analysis”\nMore info on Dr. Eric Mas
