Elizabeth Lefebvre
UGME Career Advisor
Elizabeth holds a Bachelor’s degree in Arts and a Masters's in Library and Information Science from McGill University.
Prior to her work as Career Advisor, Elizabeth served as a Donor Research Associate at McGill’s Development and Alumni Relations Office, where she kept abreast of McGill’s initiatives and priorities, as well as charitable giving in the Canadian university environment. Elizabeth served as Career Advisor at the Faculty of Medicine from 2009-2010 and was delighted to reassume the role on a full-time basis from 2011. As the WELL Office has expanded, Elizabeth has grown into her role, enthusiastically describing it to anyone who will listen as “the best job I’ve ever had!”
As Career Advisor, Elizabeth holds hundreds of confidential, individual student meetings per year with medical and dental learners of all years. These are tailored to the needs of the student, focusing on their questions of the moment, and providing timely advice. Whether it be a first-year student with less of an idea of career preferences, or a fourth-year student needing help with specifics of residency application or making a career choice, Elizabeth will listen attentively and empathically and work with the student to put together a concrete action plan, with specific tasks and follow-ups as needed. Elizabeth also facilitates and runs career panel sessions as well as presentations and workshops on various topics (resume writing, interviewing skills, personal values, an elective choice, and residency application).
Elizabeth walks the talk of the WELL Office: you may glimpse her cycling to work each morning, sun, rain, wind, or snow. Communicate with elizabeth.lefebvre1 [at] mcgill.ca!
