Research

Focus

Tuberculosis is a re-emerging priority infectious disease in Canada, disproportionately affecting immigrant and Canadian-born Aboriginal populations.  As such, there is an urgent need for improvements in current guidelines and practices that can be achieved through evidence-informed applied public health research. My role as a public health scientist is to develop innovative solutions through advances in basic science with a view to reduce mortality and morbidity due to tuberculosis. I use a systems-based approach to help identify, characterize, and modify critical innate immune pathways important in mediating adverse outcomes of infection.
