Giorgia Sulis is an infectious disease epidemiologist with clinical background and a strong interest in global health research. After receiving her medical degree (2011) and specializing in infectious and tropical diseases (2017) in Italy, she obtained a PhD in epidemiology from McGill University in 2021. Tuberculosis (TB) has been a dominant component of her research interests and activities throughout the past decade, focusing on multiple aspects, from the evaluation of treatment outcomes in select vulnerable groups, to the assessment of diagnostic test performance and the implementation of preventative interventions, among others. She has a strong interest in knowledge synthesis to inform clinical and policy decision-making and has conducted and contributed to several clinical and epidemiological studies in collaboration with international partners including the World Health Organization (WHO). Dr. Sulis is currently a postdoctoral researcher at McGill University and will join the University of Ottawa in January 2023 as Assistant Professor. In her future research program, which will cover various areas of infectious disease epidemiology, she will continue working on TB, with particular focus on TB prevention and the relationship between TB and COVID-19.
