DESCRIPTION: \n\nExplore sustainability-related research\, initiatives\, an
d student groups at McGill during the Sustainability Soirée on Wednesday\,
  Sept. 14\, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. in the Thomson House Ballroom. \n
 \nThis evening of food\, drinks\, knowledge-sharing\, and networking aims
to create a more open\, connected\, and sustainable university. Meet with
project teams who have received support from the Sustainability Projects F
und (SPF)\, as well as student and faculty researchers funded by the McGil
l Sustainability Systems Initiative (MSSI).\n\nAccessibility\n\nThomson Ho
use is located on a steep section of McTavish Street\, but it is accessibl
e by car. Station Peel (Green Line of Metro) and Peel / Du Docteur-Penfiel
d (Bus #107) are the nearest public transit points. You can use the McGill
Interactive Accessibility Network Map to determine the best route for you
.\n\nThomson House is wheelchair accessible via a ramp adjacent to the bui
lding's parking lot. The washrooms in the Ballroom are wheelchair accessib
le\, but they are not gender-neutral. There are two gender-neutral\, singl
e occupancy washrooms located on the first floor\, with a third gender-neu
tral\, single occupancy washroom located on the fourth floor (one floor ab
ove the Ballroom\, which is on the third floor). These three washrooms are
accessible via a small elevator. Since the building is used for multiple
 purposes\, Thomson House cannot guarantee a scent-free environment\, but w
e ask that you refrain from applying scented products such as perfumes\, c
ologne\, and shampoo prior to attending this event. We appreciate your coo
peration in making this an accessible space for all.\n\nAbout the McGill S
ustainability Systems Initiative\n\nShifting to a more sustainable future
requires taking a multi-faceted\, systems-level approach to some of the wo
rld’s knottiest problems. The McGill Sustainability Systems Initiative (MS
SI) seeks to mobilize McGill researchers around sustainability challenges
and equip the next generation with the skills needed to address these issu
es. In its novel approach\, the MSSI provides opportunities for researcher
s from very different disciplines to interact and co-design projects that
address complex problems from a variety of perspectives. The outcome is a
robust and vibrant community of committed sustainability researchers.\n\nM
cGill Sustainability Systems Initiative\n\nAbout the Sustainability Projec
ts Fund\n\nThe Sustainability Projects Fund mandate is to build a culture
of sustainability on McGill campuses through the development and seed-fund
ing of interdisciplinary projects.\n\nIt creates opportunities for the McG
ill community to actively engage in sustainability initiatives on campus\,
empowering individuals to be change agents in their own studying and work
environment.\n\nSustainability Projects Fund\n\nAbout McGill Office of Su
stainability\n\nEstablished in 2010\, the McGill Office of Sustainability
embeds climate action and sustainability into all of the University’s acti
vities. It engages\, supports\, and connects students\, staff\, and facult
y by providing strategic guidance and resources to foster a sustainable co
mmunity.\n\nThe Office of Sustainability stewards McGill’s flagship Sustai
nability Projects Fund\, oversees the implementation of the McGill Univers
ity Climate & Sustainability Strategy 2020-2025\, and offers sustainabilit
 y programming for students\, staff\, and faculty members.\n\nMcGill Office
