The 7th annual Rethink conference

Rethink conference logo 2008

March 28, 2008. You've signed the Rethink Pledge* to commit to at least five (5) actions towards reducing your environmental impact while you are on campus, whether in a lab or in a residence. The Annual Rethink conference provided an opportunity for dialogue on March 28, 2008 with other members of the McGill community to see how we can move between policy and practice, working together to see change.
Couldn't make the conference? The presentations are posted online here!

*The Rethink wha..? The Rethink Pledge was launched during the Week of Action on Climate Change. McGill community members are asked to commit to at least five (5) actions towards reducing their environmental impact while they are on campus, whether in a lab or in a residence. The action items were based on Harvard University’s emPower pledge: last year, Harvard had approximately 4,000 signatures! Yale apparently had approximately 1,000 signatures.

On our first try in the 2007 Winter Semester, we reached our goal of 1,000 signatures by Convocation 2007. Help us reach this year's goal: 2,000 signatures by Convocation 2008! Staff members can register on behalf of their departments. Sign up now!

Farmer's Market on Campus

At the March 2008 Rethink Conference, one of the SMART objectives proposed by attendees was a Farmers' Market on campus. During the spring and summer months, students worked with McGill staff (Food and Dining Services and other relevant departments to make it happen.

From August 25th to 28th and every Tuesday of September, the market will be in the parking lot of University Centre to sell their wares to the community. The Market is going to run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Don't miss it! Come get great local foods! Don't forget to bring your own bags, and dishes or Tupperware!

UPDATE: Surprise! Due to popular demand, McGill's first annual Farmer's Market is back for three more weeks. See you at "Three Bares" Park from 11am-3pm, Tuesday the 14th, 21st, and 28th of October.

The "Three Bares" Park is on the west side of the main campus avenue, just south of the Arts building.

Want to help? Student coordinators will need extra hands to help out with instalments and clean up, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. If you're interested, please mbcs2008 [at] (e-mail them)
