THIS COURSE IS POSSIBLE THANKS TO THE NKABOM COLLABORATIVE AND UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH AND ALLIED SCIENCES, GHANA.
This 12-hour introductory course offers a practical foundation in global public health nutrition and food security, integrating core scientific principles with real-world implementation challenges. Participants will explore the intersections between nutrition, food systems, social inequities, and the structural determinants of health, applying these concepts through case-based and challenge-based learning drawn from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and Indigenous contexts. Designed for global health practitioners, policymakers, clinicians, and NGO professionals, the course emphasizes critical skills in evidence appraisal, program design, and effective knowledge translation to inform policy and practice.

This course is grounded in the global nutrition and food security challenges most acute in low- and middle-income country (LMIC) settings, with a particular focus on maternal and child malnutrition, nutritional deficiencies, and food insecurity. It emphasizes equity and access within food systems, examining how social and structural determinants shape nutrition outcomes across diverse populations.
Drawing on case studies from LMIC contexts, the course ensures direct relevance for practitioners, policymakers, and researchers working across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. The online half-day format is intentionally designed to accommodate multiple time zones and to facilitate participation by professionals working in low-resource and remote settings.
