#MyRemoteMcGill Instagram Campaign

 

This semester, tens of thousands of McGill students are studying remotely from around the world. Whether you're in a McGill campus residence, or living with family in another country, this physical separation is totally new and sometimes isolating.

But even while we're apart, there are common threads that connect us. The zoom lectures, studying at home, navigating COVID-19 guidelines...they affect everyone. So how can we connect and support each other from afar?

What is #MyRemoteMcGill?

#MyRemoteMcGill is an Instagram campaign created by our student employees to share our stories of how we’re getting through this experience together. Day-in-the-life style IG reels and photo stories are a reminder that we’re not alone in this, and McGill students around the world are finding creative ways to make the most out of their semester while staying safe. We want you to join the conversation!

Choose one or more ways to participate:

  1. Create an IG photo story to share how you’re staying safe and taking care of yourself while studying remotely, like this image on the right. Feel free to post any pictures of your daily activities!
  2. Create an IG reel that shares your typical day and any tips to share with other students. Here's an example.
  3. In both story and reel posts, tag @McGillStuServ and use the hashtag, #MyRemoteMcGill for a chance to be reposted in our Instagram stories! Please note that we’ll only share content that respects all Québec COVID-19 guidelines.

Sharing our experience is important, but we also want to acknowledge that getting through this isn’t just about sharing tips and tricks—this is a very difficult experience for many of us. If you’re struggling, we’re here to help you. Student Services is available remotely, and our students have access to a mental health professional 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from anywhere in the world via Keep.MeSafe.
