Providing a Safe and Enriching Residence Experience
The health and safety of our students and staff is the guiding principle of all of our planning for the new academic year 2020-2021. Our mission is to provide students the safest and best experience possible despite the current global pandemic. We know the current COVID-19 pandemic has made a lot of things uncertain—but no matter what’s going on in the world, students can rest assured that their home away from home will be waiting for them.
We have adapted all of our residence buildings to closely follow both the Quebec government and the local health authority's guidelines and all students will be assigned single occupancy rooms to support social distancing measures.
Health and Safety Measures
-
Physical distancing measures in place per residence building.
As of October 1st, the Government of Quebec has placed Montreal at Level 4(Red) due to an increase in COVID cases. As a result, outdoor and indoor gatherings (groups of more than 2 people) in common rooms are no longer permitted. -
Increased cleaning of high traffic areas
Our dedicated housekeeping staff will be cleaning and sanitizing to the highest level possible all common areas, study spaces and laundry rooms at increased intervals. We have also posted signs to indicate the maximum capacity of each room. Students are required to respect these limits to ensure physical distance. -
Mandatory Masks
As per Quebec government directives, it is mandatory for everyone to wear a mask in public places including in residences.
This means:- when you enter the building
- when you leave your room
- lobby area
- elevators
- corridors
- staircases
- common rooms
- kitchens
- laundry rooms
-
Residence Support
The residence life team have been working diligently throughout the summer and will be offering robust programming with a focus on virtual gatherings and small, in person group activities.
-
Guests
External guests are not permitted in residences (excluding the lobby and dining hall area); this includes students from other residences and anyone who does not currently live in your building. -
Code of community living
The 2020-2021 Residence Handbook is a great resource for students to find up-to-date COVID safety measures specific to their residence building and the residence student code of conduct.
Dining on Campus
Select dining halls will open with a focus on fresh, nutritious take-out dining options. Our kitchen staff will be required to wear a mask and gloves at all times while working and interacting with customers.
