From Saturday, Oct. 5 through Monday, Oct. 7, the Downtown and Macdonald Campuses will be open only to McGill students, employees and essential visitors. Many classes will be held online. Remote work required where possible. See Campus Public Safety website for details.

Dr. Joanne Liu, Professor focusing on pandemic and health emergencies at the McGill School of Population and Global Health (SPGH) is quoted by the Montreal Gazette.

"Quebec’s foremost pandemic expert, who took part in an international panel to assess the global COVID-19 response, is predicting that the crisis could split in two: with Canada and other wealthy nations bringing the situation under control following mass vaccination campaigns while the coronavirus continues to rage in poorer countries. Dr. Joanne Liu, former international president of Médecins sans frontières, drew a parallel between lingering HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis epidemics in developing nations and what might happen with COVID-19."
