Lister Family Engaged Science 3MT® Competition

The Lister Family Engaged Science 3MT Competition will be held on January 11,  2018, 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the Faculty Lounge, MS2-022, Macdonald Campus. The Lister 3MT competition is supported by the Lister Family Engaged Science Initiative which seeks to provide McGill undergraduate and graduate students in science with opportunities to develop the communication skills required to engage with various academic and non-academic audiences, and leadership competencies to improve their contribution to the workforce and society.

"This competition has brought much more than I expected. It equipped me with skills to communicate with the general public and it strengthened my confidence and courage to reach out to other researchers...

I have to say, it is a can't miss competition in which you will know yourself better and be a better version of yourself!"

The 3MT Competition was developed by the University of Queensland. Students are given 3 minutes to explain their research in front of one static slide.

"Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) celebrates the exciting research conducted by PhD students. Developed by The University of Queensland, the exercise cultivates students' academic, presentation, and research communication skills. The competition supports their capacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience."
