Profile 1989 - 2013
Recognized in over 500 peer-reviewed publications to date, heartfelt thanks to the many individuals and partners who have enabled the successful track record of research and student training at Sheldon Biotechnology Centre:
Founding Donor: As a Strathcona Professor of Pathology and Royal Victoria Hospital physician, McGill Biology graduate Dr. Huntingdon “Skip” Sheldon was an outstanding teacher and mentor during his 26 years at McGill. Known for his popular autopsy conferences, innovative research (combined electron microscopy and histochemistry which led to his extracellular localization of alkaline phosphatase), and publications (including a pathology textbook in its 12th edition), Dr. Sheldon's support enabled McGill to create Sheldon Biotechnology Centre – a biomedical facility to integrate McGill scientists with clinicians at its teaching hospitals. Also a graduate of the John Hopkins School of Medicine, Dr. Sheldon remains an emeritus trustee of the Johns Hopkins University and a member of the Johns Hopkins Society of Scholars.
