My current research examines the current gaps that exist in regard to the assessment of Functional Speech, Voice and Swallowing Disorders. These disorders are frequently misdiagnosed or misunderstood, resulting in delayed treatment, prolonged patient distress, and increased healthcare costs. The primary aim of this research is to enhance the clinical identification and management of FND-SVS by developing a standardized assessment framework for use by speech-language pathologists (SLPs). The outcomes of this project have the potential to transform clinical pathways for FND-SVS and better understand how these disorders can be treated across healthcare systems.
