Current research:
My research investigates how positive emotional expression in infant-directed speech (IDS, also known as baby talk) shapes speech perception. I explore how emotional expressions unique to IDS may be implicitly associated with specific vowel qualities. I’m developing a novel set of controlled speech stimuli for behavioural testing. My work aims to contribute to our understanding of how affective and acoustic cues interact in early language learning, and the socio-emotional and developmental implications of these interactions.
