Project title: Access to healthcare for immigrants without status in Montreal

Project description (50-100 words suggested):The barriers to health care access for immigrants without status is a problem across Canada. Procedural and economic challenges of offering services burden the health care system. The health consequences suffered by immigrants when unable to find safe and affordable care also raise questions about ethics in health care practice and provision. While a body of country-level research on immigrant health exists, more analysis is needed in cities to inform policy. This project seeks to explore the regulations governing accessibility of care in Montreal for medically uninsured newcomers, understand the challenges faced by the practitioners that provide health services, and determine steps to guaranteeing access to care for all.
