Supervisor's Name: Guillaume Gervais
Supervisor's Email: gervais [at] physics.mcgill.ca
Supervisor's department: Physics
Course number: PHYS 396 (Physics)
Term: Summer 2013
Project start date: Monday, July 8, 2013
Project end date: Friday, August 30, 2013
Project title: Numerical Navier-Stokes
Project description (50-100 words suggested): Computational fluid dynamics simulations for the nanopore sonic flow. The experimental results for high speed flow should be compared to the ones obtained via the computer simulation of the experimental set-up. The power spectrum computation may follow if the Mach speed barrier is broken. Hence, the main goal of this experiment will be achieved.
Prerequisite: 1 term completed at McGill + CGPA of 3.0 or higher; or permission of instructor.
Grading scheme (The final report must be worth at least 50% of final grade): Final grade shall be based on laboratory performance as evaluated by the research supervisor (50%) and the final written research report graded by the supervisor and the course coordinator or the coordinator's delegate (50%)
Project status: This project is taken. The professor has no more '396' projects this term.
How students can apply: N/A; this project is filled.
Ethics, safety, and training: Supervisors are responsible for the ethics and safety compliance of undergraduate students. This project involves NEITHER animal subjects, nor human subjects, nor biohazardous substances, nor radioactive materials, nor handling chemicals, nor using lasers.
