Project end date: Monday, December 7, 2015

Project title: Studying the Expression of CEACAM1, CEACAM6 and CEA in CRCLM

Project description (50-100 words suggested): The goal of this research is to study the expression of CEACAM1, CEACAM6 and CEA in metastatic colorectal cancer at the protein level in order to elucidate its role in CRCLM and to pave the way into developing new reliable diagnostic or prognostic markers. Sections from FFPE blocks of CRCLM patients (both the primary colon cancer and the matched liver metastases) will be prepared and stained by Immunohistochemistry using CEACAM1, CEACAM6 and CEA antibodies. Slide will be scored using the Aperio slide scanner software to grade the expression levels.

Prerequisite: 1 term completed at McGill + CGPA of 3.0 or higher; or permission of instructor.

Grading scheme (The final report must be worth at least 50% of final grade): Final grade shall be based on laboratory performance as evaluated by the research supervisor (50%) and the final written research report graded by the supervisor and the course coordinator or the coordinator's delegate (50%).
