Project title: Dynamic hematological response to thrombopoietin
Project description: This project is an examination of the dynamic response of a mathematical model for human hematopoiesis to the natural cytokine thrombopoietin, and the use of those dynamics for an intelligent treatment of the disease cyclical thrombocytopenia.
Prerequisite: 1 term completed at McGill + CGPA of 3.0 or higher; or permission of instructor.
Grading scheme (The final report must be worth at least 50% of final grade): Evaluation of the student's progress through weekly meetings (25%) and from a final written report (75%) suitable for submission to the Journal of Theoretical Biology (or equivalent)
Other project information: This work requires extensive knowledge of differential equations, dynamical systems theory, and well developed computational skill as well as the ability to write using Latex.
