Project title: Characterization of the effect of YB-1 overexpression and silencing in luciferase positive U87 GBM cell line
Project description: YB-1 is overexpressed or silenced in U87 GBM cell line, which expresses luciferase as a method to trace the tumor cells. Immunofluorescence and Western Blot will be employed to screen U87 Luciferase clones with YB-1 overexpressed or silenced. These clones will be assessed by proliferation assay to characterize the effect of YB-1 overexpression or silencing. Then intracranial injection of these cells will be performed in immuno-compromised mice, in order to assess their tumorigenecity in vivo.
Prerequisite: 1 term completed at McGill + CGPA of 3.0 or higher; or permission of instructor.
Grading scheme (The final report must be worth at least 50% of final grade): 50% Final report; 50% Laboratory performance
