Project title: Leishmania-induced dendritic cells inactivation: A signalling point of view
Project description: During the course of this project the student will study the mechanics whereby Leishmania parasite can alter dendritic cells (DC) antigen presenting functions at the cellular and molecular levels. After in vitro infection of DCs, those latter will be subjected to LPS stimulation over a time period. Depending on what will be monitored, the short time stimulation will be used to look at signalling alternation (MAP kinases, IRAK kinases, Transcription factors) and the longer time stimulation will be used to look at markers and their functional capacity to present selected antigen (Ovalbumin) to T cells. This study should help better understand how this intracellular pathogens can evade immune response.

Other prerequisite, if applicable: MIMM212 or equivalent laboratory course, 1 term completed at McGill + CGPA ≥ 3.0; or permission of instructor.
Grading scheme (The final report must be worth at least 50% of final grade): Final grade shall be based on laboratory performance as evaluated by the research supervisor (50%) and the final written research report (minimum 10 pages) graded by the supervisor and the course coordinator or the coordinator's delegate (50%).
