Project title: The effect of breast cancer derived factor on osteoclast number, size and nucleation.
Project description: Characterize what effect breast cancer cells have on osteoclastogenesis (i.e. determine the size and nucleation of osteoclasts). Breast cancer derived factors synergize with TGFβ and calcium signaling pathways, inducing increased osteoclastogenesis. The hypothesis is that when inhibition of the above signaling pathways are used, osteoclast function as well as size are affected.
Prerequisite: 1 term completed at McGill + CGPA of 3.0 or higher; or permission of instructor.
